PRODUCT ENGINEERING

Future Knit develops activewear as a balance of movement, support, moisture management, opacity, durability and brand expression. Seamless and cut-and-sew products can be coordinated within one collection, with every approved fabric, pattern, trim, measurement and finish documented for production.

01

Performance materials

Stretch, recovery, weight, moisture behavior, opacity, abrasion resistance and hand feel are matched to the intended activity and garment type.

02

Movement-led fit

Pattern, body mapping, seam placement, support and pocket architecture are refined through physical samples and movement review.

03

Collection control

Color, trims, branding, size range, packaging, workmanship and inspection criteria are coordinated from approved sample to repeat order.

MATERIAL & CONSTRUCTION GUIDE

Define the product
from the inside out.

Final materials are selected against the product brief, intended use, care requirements, target market and approved testing plan.

01

Stretch knit fabrics

Polyamide- or polyester-based knits with elastane are selected by activity, stretch direction, recovery, opacity and surface character. Fabric weight and structure must support the garment, not just the color story.

  • Interlock and jersey directions
  • Four-way stretch options
  • Compression and support levels
  • Opacity and recovery review
02

Comfort & climate

Moisture movement, drying behavior, air permeability, thermal feel and next-to-skin comfort are considered together. Brushed, peached or smooth surfaces are selected around season and activity.

  • Moisture-management strategies
  • Breathable structures
  • Brushed or smooth hand feel
  • Seasonal weight planning
03

Trims & construction

Thread, elastic, zipper, label, print, transfer, bonding and seam type must remain compatible with fabric stretch, care and intended use.

  • Flatlock and low-profile seams
  • Bonding where technically suitable
  • Stretch-compatible trims
  • Print and transfer testing

DEVELOPMENT PATH

From brief to repeatable production.

  1. 01

    Build the product brief

Activity, target customer, silhouette, price architecture, size range, climate and commercial requirements are aligned.

  2. 02

    Select and test materials

Candidate fabrics and trims are reviewed for stretch, recovery, opacity, hand feel, care and construction compatibility.

  3. 03

    Create first prototype

Pattern, seam placement, support, pockets and branding are translated into a physical sample.

  4. 04

    Fit and movement review

The sample is assessed in motion; measurements and construction are refined before size grading.

  5. 05

    Approve production master

Final specification, color references, trims, artwork, packaging and inspection points are frozen for production.

BUYER QUESTIONS

What brands need to know.

What activewear products can be developed?

Programs can include leggings, shorts, training tops, sports bras, running layers, yoga and studio products, and lifestyle activewear. The exact route depends on whether the product is seamless or cut and sew.

How do you select activewear fabric?

Selection starts with intended activity and fit. Stretch, recovery, weight, opacity, moisture behavior, abrasion, hand feel, care and compatibility with seams and trims are reviewed together.

Can seamless and cut-and-sew products sit in one collection?

Yes. A coordinated collection can combine both methods while aligning color, material story, branding and performance intent. Each product retains its own technical specification and quality controls.

Do you support private-label development?

Yes. Scope can include material sourcing, product engineering, prototypes, fit and size development, trims, branding, packaging and production. Commercial and technical terms are agreed project by project.

How is activewear quality controlled?

Quality criteria are defined from the approved sample and specification. Controls can cover measurements, workmanship, color, stretch behavior, opacity, trim attachment, appearance and packaging according to the agreed plan.
